Broadway Bound Kids is looking for enthusiastic, creative, and experienced Lead and Assistant Teaching Artists who love kids and are passionate about performing arts education!
**Please note, applicants should be available 9/4 - if you are not available, we encourage you to apply for the spring semester.**
We are seeking Teaching Artists across all disciplines including:
Dance
Musical Theater
Songwriting
Creative Movement
Devised Musical Theater
We are looking specifically for people who are comfortable teaching dance, and musical theater vocals. At this time, we are not looking for Teaching Artists who only focus on acting.
Job responsibilities include:
Developing, documenting, and implementing strong performing arts curriculum for students ages 3-18
Collaborating with the BBK programming team, school staff, and co-teachers to create lessons that cater to specific student communities
Taking attendance and facilitating student drop off/pick up, when appropriate
Overseeing the transportation and use of materials as required by the program
Completing site reports within 24 hours of each class
In some cases, TA's responsibilities include direction/choreography/music direction of a produced musical or devised theater piece.
This placement is compensated at a higher rate.
Attending bi-annual teaching artist trainings (first training is in-person on 9/4, 4PM-8PM)
Qualifications Please see our list of qualifications for a Lead TA below. Prospective Assistant TAs should have a developing skill set of the following qualifications, but we encourage educators of all experience levels to apply!
Flexible availability on weekdays from 10 AM - 6PM
Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Dance, Vocal Performance, or Education or equivalent experience
2+ years of teaching experience, preferably in schools or after-school programs
Demonstrated commitment to creating educational spaces that foster community in accordance with Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Access and Justice (EDIAJ)
Experience in developing performing arts curriculum and lesson planning
Experience working with diverse populations and a range of ages (3-18)
Passion for expanding their teaching skill-set and collaborating with teaching cohort
Organized, dependable, motivated and punctual; someone with an ability to problem-solve quickly and creatively, always with diplomacy
Multilingual, a plus
Compensation Teaching Artists are compensated with a base rate of $50/hr. Assistants receive $30/hr. Rates are commiserate with teaching experience and programmatic requirements.
