This class is the ultimate dance mash-up! In Jr. Mix It Up, students have the ultimate dance experience and unleash their creativity! This class introduces young dancers to a wide range of dance styles including Jazz, Hip Hop, Theater, Contemporary, Ballroom, Ballet and more! Students will practice across the floor foundational techniques, learn basic choreography, and be exposed to a diverse sampling of music and dance. In this class, fun is centered, and students will partake in a myriad of exciting dance games. Jr. Mix It Up culminates in a final share where students will show off the vocabulary, technique, and dances they've learned to friends and family. Mix It Up Dance (2-5) This class is the ultimate dance mash-up! In Mix It Up, students have the opportunity to explore a selection of diverse dance genres, hone their movement techniques, and unleash their creativity! Students will learn steps and skills from a wide range of dance styles including Jazz, Hip Hop, Theater, Contemporary, Ballroom, Ballet and more! Through warm-ups, movement games, and choreography building, our students will have a blast exploring rhythm, technique, and self-expression. Mix It Up culminates in a final sharing for friends and family towards the end of the semester. Location: PS 6

TuesdaysStorytelling (K-1)
Combining elements of improv, storytelling, and theater, this class leads students on an adventure to develop a story from their own imaginations! Mythical creatures, far-off landscapes, and anything the class dreams up can have a starring role. Students will hone their actor toolboxes, explore original characters, and work together as an ensemble to create a world-premiere, never-before-seen piece of whimsical theater which we will present in a final sharing with friends and family. Singer/Songwriter (2-5) Does your student dream of becoming the next Alicia Keys or Ed Sheeran? In Singers and Songwriters, students learn the mechanics of writing lyrics and melodies, and will discover how to tell a story through music. As a culminating project this semester, the class will write and record their very own original tune for you to keep forever! In addition, we will hold an open class at the end of the semester for you to get a sneak peek into the songwriting process. Broadway Bound Beginners (PreK-4)
Inspired by hit Broadway shows like Matilda, Frozen, Annie, and many, many more, this program centers student voice and creativity while building the fundamentals of musical theater -- singing, dancing, and acting! Our young stars will learn to work together as an ensemble while each getting their own moments to shine. At the end of the program, they'll celebrate with an original mini-musical showcase for friends and family! *the PreK 4 Spring term is a part of a pilot program spearheaded by PS 6 and the after school coordinator, this class requires a minimum of 12 students to run Location: PS 6

In this visual arts class, creativity knows no bounds! Students will be offered a stimulating and supportive environment to cultivate their artistic imagination, confidence, and storytelling abilities through the lens of design and theater. Our Teaching Artist will introduce fundamental stagecraft concepts and skills, guiding students as they design sets, create dioramas, and build props. As the semester progresses, young designers will work together to produce puppets inspired by their own devised stories! Improv (2nd-5th Grade) In this dynamic and laughter-filled class, students will embark on a journey of spontaneous storytelling and imaginative exploration. Designed specifically for elementary school-aged learners, our Improv class is an engaging and interactive experience that fosters creativity, teamwork, and confidence. Students will learn the foundational rule of improvisation – "Yes, And..." – and will be encouraged to accept and build upon each other's ideas, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. Through fun and fast-paced improv games and exercises, students develop quick thinking, active listening, and adaptability. Whose line IS it anyway?! Location: PS 6

Jr. Drama Club (K-1)
Welcome to Jr. Drama Club, where young talents shine and creativity knows no bounds! Jr. Drama Club offers a stimulating and supportive environment for students to cultivate imagination, confidence, and collaboration through the lens of musical theater. Our TAs will work to introduce technical concepts and skills through drama games and physical and vocal warm-ups, while building the foundations of the three elements of musical theater – singing, dancing, and acting! The scaffolding element of this class is unique to other after school programs. BBK hopes that participants will attend each week, as rehearsals depend upon the participation of the whole group. The ensemble will work together to prepare, rehearse, and perform a mini-musical to share with family and friends. *Cost includes $50 costume fee Drama Club (2-5) Curtain up, hit the lights, and get ready to perform in Drama Club! In this program, students create an ensemble and build a life-long community while discovering foundational musical theater techniques. Inspired by Broadway hits like Shrek, Hamilton, and many more, BBK will provide Teaching Artists to direct and choreograph a fully realized revue. Students will be assigned roles, lines, and solos in a manner in accordance to a script, and cast in an attainable and age appropriate show culminating in a performance at the end of the semester. The scaffolding element of this class is unique to other after school programs. BBK hopes that participants will attend each week, as rehearsals depend upon the participation of the whole group. Young actors, it's time for your close up! In Jr. Lights, Camera, Action, students will learn how their favorite TV shows and films come to life. Exploring age appropriate shows and movies from Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, our students will learn about character development, and learn music and scenes from some of their favorites. Their confidence will soar as they receive training in acting, singing, and dancing. This class culminates with a final share of what they learned with friends and family. Lights, Camera, Action (2-5) Movies, TV musicals, and musical theater in the media are all on the rise. This class explores where musical theater meets cinema! Taking inspiration from your favorites like Zombies, Descendants, The Greatest Showman, and many pop/rock/hip-hop musicals, students will create their own movie musical mashup. Their confidence will soar as they receive training in acting, singing, and dancing, and get to create their movie musical! Location: PS 6
