Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide scholarships or reduced tuition? Yes! We are passionate about making sure all young artists have access to quality performing arts programming. Please apply for a needs-based scholarship here.
What can I expect from the Summer in-person BBK programs? All Broadway Bound Kids, classes are taught by professional teaching artists and foster an environment of trust, community, and fun. Our student-centered programs are designed to meet each student where they are, provide space for the group’s creativity, and hone their performing arts skills. Classes are catered specifically to the age group of enrolled students to create challenging but achievable goals. BBK teaching artists are trained to bring mindfulness and social-emotional learning to their classrooms, all while having a great time!
What measures are you taking to ensure safety regarding COVID19? Please see our Health and Safety Policies and Procedures document for all COVID safety measures being taken. If there are any questions regarding health and safety, feel free to contact Lizzie McGuire, our Director of Operations and Programs, at lizzie@broadwayboundkids.org or 315-247-7706.
Do you allow students to drop into classes throughout a week? At this time we cannot offer drop-ins during weekly classes as capacity is limited. However, keep a lookout on our website for one-off programming (like our Master Classes!) if you’re looking for less of a time commitment!
Will there be virtual options? At this time we are not offering virtual summer programming. However, depending on the course of the pandemic, we may shift our programs virtually should another surge arise. (We are hopeful, and expecting that to not be the case!)
What if I need to leave early? At BBK, community building and theater fun are all part of the package! Our TA’s will spend the middle parts of the Program teaching content to leave room in the morning or afternoon for students who may have to arrive late or leave early.
What is the space like? The Center at West Park is located on the Upper West Side on 86th and Amsterdam. We have two large indoor ventilated spaces with AC, windows and HEPA filtration systems. The students may take snack/lunch and game breaks outside as we are quite close to Central Park, but we mainly will make use of the wonderful indoor spaces with air conditioning to ensure safety from the heat. If you have further questions about the space and safety measures please email Samantha@broadwayboundkids.org or check out photos of the space at their website: https://www.centeratwestpark.org/
The performance space for Legally Blonde Jr. will be the Theater at St. Jean. Located on the Upper East Side at 76th and Lexington Avenue. The Theater is a fully equipped, 204-seat air-conditioned facility with orchestra pit, spacious lobby areas, offices and rehearsal spaces. The facility includes ample wing space, seven dressing rooms, backstage restrooms, oversized lobby restrooms, and central air-conditioning. For more information about St. Jean’s, please visit: https://www.sjbny.org/the-theatre-st-jean/
Can I come to the performance? For our musical, we have rented a large theater where each performer can have multiple audience members attend. For our weekly programs, Covid may limit the amount of audience members per student. But don’t worry— we’re going digital! Each week we will record the performance and upload it to a private Vimeo link that you will receive. You won’t miss a beat of our students’ performance.
What is your COVID-19 vaccination policy? At this time, we are requiring all of our students to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Booster shots are not required, but two (2) shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or one (1) shot of J&J are required. We are asking this due to the policy of the spaces we are working in this summer, as well as for maximum protection of our students and staff.
What is your cancellation policy? We understand that families are dealing with a lot this year, so we are amending our cancellation policy! If you sign up for a BBK summer program, we are offering a full refund up until one month from the program’s start date (minus a small registration fee). After 30 days before a program’s start no refunds will be issued, but BBK will offer credit toward other BBK programming on a case by case basis. Credit requests can be made by emailing Samantha Parrish at samantha@broadwayboundkids.org
