At Broadway Bound Kids, being "Broadway Bound" means being inspired to express yourself, empowered with confidence and new skills, and transformed through inclusion in a community. In our Summer Programs, young people will not only learn from the best but will grow personally, learn to be more mindful, and make friends for life.

What can I expect from the weekly in-person BBK program? All Broadway Bound Kids classes are taught by professional teaching artists and foster an environment of trust, community, and fun. Our student-centered programs are designed to meet each student where they are, provide space for the group’s creativity, and hone their performing arts skills. Classes are catered specifically to the age group of enrolled students to create challenging but achievable goals. BBK teaching artists are trained to bring mindfulness and social-emotional learning to their classrooms, all while having a great time!

Do you allow students to drop into classes throughout a week? At this time we cannot offer drop ins during weekly classes, as capacity is limited. However, keep a lookout on our website for one off classes like Masterclasses if you’re looking for less of a time commitment!

What if I need to leave early? At BBK, community building and theatre fun are all part of the package! Our TA’s will spend the middle parts of the Program teaching content, to leave room in the morning or afternoon for students that may have to arrive late or leave early.
What is the space like? Check out the video above! St. Michael’s Church is located on the upper west side, 99th and Amsterdam. We have an expansive, enclosed, private outdoor space and playground with shade, a front yard and two large in-door ventilated spaces with AC, windows and hepa filtration systems. The students will be outside daily and we will hold as many activities as possible outdoors but we will also make use of the wonderful, safe indoor spaces with air conditioning to ensure safety from the heat. Can I come to the performance? Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, we are not going to hold a public performance of our weekly sharings. However, we’re going digital! Each week we will record and/or hold a live Zoom to watch our sharing, so you won’t miss a beat of our student’s performance.

What is your cancellation policy? We understand that families are dealing with a lot this year, so we are amending our cancellation policy! If you sign up for a BBK summer program, we are offering a full refund up until May 1st, 2021 (minus a small registration fee). After May 1st, no refunds will be issued, but BBK will offer credit toward other BBK programming on a case by case basis. Credit requests can be made by emailing Pooja Tripathi.
Kick-off summer with your favorite musical kingdom hits! Whether we’re pretending to be Elsa or Moana with our younger students or diving into Newsies and Aladdin with older students, it’s bound to be a blast. Together with our professional teaching artists, students will not only learn music, they’ll also work together to create choreography and a script inspired by their favorite big screen characters.
There’s nothing like summer in the (virtual) city! Students in this powerful program won’t throw away their shot to sing, rap, and dance. Inspired by Act 1 of the hit musical Hamilton, this program is perfect for aspiring Schuyler sisters and revolutionaries alike. And don’t worry...you can join us for Act II in week 6.
Go back to school...the fun way! Inspired by school based musicals like Hairspray, Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, and High School Musical, this program will make you most likely to sing your heart out! Strut through our virtual halls and feel so fetch.
Join us to embark on an epic musical theatre journey! It’s time to step into the shoes of the most iconic Musical Theatre characters of all time. Inspired by smash Broadway successes like Les Miserables, Cats, and more, it’s time to hit center stage for your 11 O’Clock Number.
Let’s face it, it’s fun to play the bad guy...duh! Students will be “Chillin’ Like a Villain” as they explore devious characters inspired by The Descendantsand classic evil-doers from their favorite animated hits. Who will win, the heroes or their foes? That’s up for students to decide!
Wanna be in the Zoom where it happens? For those who couldn’t get enough of Act I, jump into the drama of songs and raps inspired by the latter half of the hit musical Hamilton. You’ve never had this much fun at a duel!
This is the greatest show! Inspired by the hit movie musicals that help us to believe in the power of magic, this virtual program is perfect for students looking to embrace their mystical side. With material inspired by movie hits like The Greatest Showman, Enchanted, Harry Potter, and more, students in this program will finally get to step into worlds they’ve watched over and over on the big screen.
Join us to embark on the last epic musical theatre journey of our summer programming! In Epic Broadway: Tony Season, students will embrace the award winning musicals we all know in love. Inspired by shows like Wicked, A Chorus Line, and Dear Evan Hansen, this week is sure to dazzle.
Week 1: June 22nd: IMPROV-Calling all quick-thinking, creative kids! Students will learn to think on their feet, develop confidence in creativity, and find their inner comedian.
Week 2: June 29th: AUDITION CENTRAL- Take the stress out of auditioning! Students will learn how to choose material, calm their nerves, and give a great audition.
Week 3: July 6th: SONGWRITING- Move over Stephen Sondheim! Students will learn the basics of songwriting and work together to create an original song.
Week 4: July 13th: ACTING FOR TV/FILM- Lights...camera...action! Students will learn the fundamentals of acting on camera. They will work on actual copy from popular TV shows and movies to hone their skills and boost confidence.
Week 5: July 20th: YOGA- Come flow with us! Students will learn basic yoga poses while exploring breath, movement, balance, and imagination.
Week 6: July 27th: HIP HOP- Get ready for a hip-hoppin’ good time! Students in this exciting class will learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop with emphasis on rhythm, syncopation, coordination and isolation.
Week 7: August 3rd: COSTUME DESIGN- Did you know you could build a fabulous costume right from your home? Bring your creativity to this engaging class where students will use what’s around them to inspire original costuming ideas. Color, texture, story, and design will all play a part in this behind-the-scenes workshop. Week 8: August 10th: PERCUSSION...AT HOME!- Get out your pots and pans, it’s time to make some noise! Inspired by the stage sensation STOMP, students in this masterclass will learn to use what they have at home to create exciting beats.
