SCHOOL RESIDENCIES AND PARTNERSHIPS
BBK has created tailored performing arts programs at school sites for 20+ years, working with a myriad of schools, all with unique communities, and culture. We currently serve 22 NYC schools, offering dance and theater classes both after and in-school. The schools we work with inspire the curriculum we build: Our cross-curricular lessons are tied with the goals of each site to provide arts programs with multi-faceted impact.

IN-HOUSE PROGRAMS
Year-Round programs that BBK hosts separate from school partnerships. Those include:
Community Theater Ensembles:
September through May we offer three tuition free theater programs for 4th through 12th graders. These musical theater and acting programs centered on building theater, dance and music technique in an inclusive environment. In each program, students explore challenging and engaging material, and build community while creating original work, or working to perform plays, fully produced musicals or material from Film/TV.
Summer Programs:
BBK offers musical theater summer programs for students K-12th grade. These programs include weekly musical theater camps for younger students wishing to experience musical theater and build on foundational techniques as they create their own show, make friends and have FUN while engaging in the arts.
For older students, we offer a three week theater intensive where students work towards building an exciting musical revue class, while learning about a life on Broadway through masterclasses from Broadway guest artists.
Broadway InterACTive:
BBK offers periodic Broadway Masterclasses and field trips to experience Broadway shows. In this program, students participate in a masterclass with a Broadway guest star, learning music and choreography from the show they are about to see. Afterwards, they have lunch and a Q&A with the Broadway guest, before heading to the theater to see the show.
BBK Rocks:
This program is a tuition free three-week Pop/Rock performance intensive specifically designed for 7th-12th grade students. BBK Teaching Artists work with participants on vocal performances customized to each student’s unique creativity and talent while also working as an ensemble during group numbers. At the end of the program, students perform their very own Pop/Rock concert with a live band!
Free Community Classes:
Throughout the year, BBK offers completely free and open to all classes that boast energy, community, and belonging. These classes are led by our Teaching Artists and offer all participants a chance to get a glimpse of our curriculum and culture, and an opportunity to sing, dance, and move! For students who are interested in entering our year round ensembles, summer programs, or students looking for a place to try out musical theater, these classes provide moments of joy for participants.

These classes are typically held every Summer, Winter, and Spring Breaks, and we host a Halloween Class in October and a Pride Celebration Class in June.
Professional Development
In collaboration with the NYC Department of Education Office of Arts and Special Projects, Musical Theatre International and the Shubert Foundation, BBK serves as arts partner for the Broadway Junior Program. We provide a BBK Teaching Artists to mentor classroom teachers as they put on their first musical. Aligning with our mission, the schools selected for this grant lack access to arts programming, and are located in under-resourced areas. We also serve as a cultural partner for the Arthur Miller Foundation Fellowship program. We provide Teaching Artists to build 10 lesson plans and co-teach 20 sessions with classroom theater teachers in the NYC DOE, further armoring these communities with tactics for building and sustaining arts programs at their school.
